m50 turbo / ebay turbo kits

I have an e36 with m50 vanos engine and i'm thinking of turbocharging this car. everything is low budget on this car and i dont want something really expensive... it will be my fun car.

so i was looking on ebay.com and i found several sets turbo kits. the prices are between 500-900 us$. does anyone bought one of those kits? are those totally crap?

As far as I have read if you are willing to throw in some bigger injectors and real engine management you can have a decent set-up but, I have also read that the turbos can be hit or miss.

turbos are fine...they don't last long though (2 years?) before they need to be rebuilt. worth the money imho.

and yes, they need some engine management. all cheap turbo kits need engine management. I recommend megasquirt if you are budget minded.
