I didn't finish the car but I did get it running...what happen was while driving the car around the block to make sure everything was in working shape a rock or something hit the reluctor ring that goes around the crank pulley for the crank sensor.
The car was running crappy after the drive as if the timing belt jump...had no idea the ring was pressed on the crank pulley as it was powder coated...so after months of try to figure it out with tons of cranking and no starting I noticed the ring had moved.
I pulled the crank wheel off and fixed the issue the car started right up and idled perfect...but since I was so excited about the car running again I never drained the oil which had tons of fuel in it from too many crank no stats that it developed a rod knock.
So I got the motor rebuilt to oem spec with all new hardware/rings/bearing and all new gaskets...should be up and running soon.Last edited by beefjurky69; 03-08-2012, 04:16 AM.

I had similar luck, had my top end rebuilt, and then my timing jumped, and smashed my valves into my pistons. I wanna see your beast trying to reverse the earth's rotation85' 318i ~The Bronze Bomber (FrankenM10 with a Forced Future :wgaf:)

Thanks guys...head was already done, I'm machining the block because I spun a bearing and had a rod knock. So I got the bottom end rebuilt...new rings new bearing know good crank off a spare motor I had.
Getting the block back tomorrow so I'll have some pics up this weekend.

That looks exactly like my block right now. Waiting on the machine shop to finish my rods and head. Then we'll be in business! I can't wait to see where you take this thing.
I'm mentally piecing together a turbo for my M20 that I'm putting together now and when I finish my second M20 that will have a lot of work done to it, we will be talking about quite bit more boost. Right now I just want like 240whp. That's not too much to ask, is it? :D
