OK I picked up an 87 4dr 325e and I'm debating on installing a turbo. I'm currious if anyone here has done a complete write up from begining to end doing the install on an e? I'm also currious if putting a turbo on an eta is even a wise decision considering it's lower RPM limits even chipped. Or would an I be a better option? If I'm correct I believe the I runs higher compression than the E does is that right? If that IS right I'd almost think the E would be the better choice to boost. Idunno can you guys point me in the right direction???

really interesting questions. i'll answer in the order asked;
no body has written and write ups on turboing a stock eta (the "e"s other name).
this is simply because it's not a wise decision.
And "i" would be a better option, but what might be an even more practical option is doing a 2.7i conversion (which i'm in the process of, right now. search this forum for a write up)
this is there the technical notes start to come in, so get your paper and pencil :P
the I actually has a lower compression ratio of 8.5:1 as apposed to the eta with has a compression ratio of 9:1.
the way the i develops more power is in it's less limited valve springs (capable of higher revs), and far superior head flow... Along with it's more sophisticated engine management. read up on the 2.7 i conversion. i personally think that it's simply is a good crash course on m20 engines, in general.
