    Turbo questions?

    Hi guys,

    Going turbo, I've done little research and found some info.. I'm a turbo noob, I know nothing about whats good or bad/quality? So maybe the experienced 24v turbo guys can help me out.. I bought a gt35r turbo and now I'm looking for a good manifold? Thanks for your help, I just need some help getting pointed in the rite direction! The car has a s52, and I want it to make 400+whp. I thought about SC, but I think its easier to make this kinda power with a turbo.

      Get a Goodntight manifold from blunt. Your gonna need to do an MLS gasket and ARP studs to hit 400 but should only need like 15psi. Get ready to drop over 4 grand. Your gonna need to do your clutch and everything aswell. Im doing a low boost m50 and im over 3k and im on an extreme 18 year old budget.

          A strong s52 with a gt35r, an MLS, ARP 2000s, and other good quality components should break 400whp/400wtq with only 12psi. 15 psi should make 450+ whp/wtq with that turbo.

          OP you will definitely want to look into beefing up your rear suspension, and flaring your fenders for some big rubber. Let's just say traction WILL be an issue with that turbo! :p

            We have a smaller turbo at the shop. I think.. I think its a gt33 or something like that. The owner said I should run that turbo its good for about 400hp. I bought the gt35 because 1.it seems like a commonly used and good turbo.. 2. power levels. I will run 12-15psi. Seems that people run TRM tunes for thier setups.. Whats injectors(pounds) would I consider?

                  Stick with the gt35r, it's the best turbo for the s50/2 engines hands down! Spools very fast, and makes great power to redline.

                  What size exhaust housing does it have? 0.63 or 0.82?

                  As far as tuning and injectors are concerned, either go with TRM's blow-thru MAF with injectors, or get the same set-up from Miller Performance. Both are great set-ups and are comparably priced. If you're OBD1, I would run a Miller W.A.R chip, so you can run multiple tunes and tweak them on your own.

                      O-ringing the block is a much better option, but you still need to drop compression, with either custom forged pistons, or a thicker MLS head gasket. Remember, s50/s52 motors are around 10.3:1 compression, unlike the m20, which is around 9.5:1 (for the "i" motor) and around 8.9:1 for the eta motor.

                      Ideally to run 12-15 psi safely, you want to drop compression to 9.5:1 or lower on the 24v engines.

                            i thought dropping comp was old school mentality for turbo builds? or is it just if you are using stock ECU + a RRFPR
