    BMW's new N20B20 into an E30

They will be here soon and the EU tuner Kellener has the 2.0L at 300hp already.

"European tuner Kelleners begins work on the new BMW N20B20 turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The 2.0 liter unit offers 184 and 245 horsepower in standard form. The lower-powered unit is used in the 120i, X1 20i, X3 20i, 520i and Z4 sDrive20i models.
The more powerful powerplant is used under the hood of the 528i and new 328i models.
Kelleners ups the power output to 220, respectively 294 horsepower for the more powerful four-banger. The torque was also increased from 270 Nm to 324 Nm, and 350 Nm to 420 Nm.

The 294 hp and 420 Nm brings the performance of the 2.0 liter four-cylinder close to the 3.0 liter TwinPower turbocharged inline six-cylinder.
The impressive power upgrade is implemented with performance tuning modules that are connected to the original BMW connectors of BMW. Kelleners has not released the pricing for the power upgrades.
In addition, Kelleners achieved another impressive power increase for the BMW 1 Series M Coupe
I imagine it won't be long before some one installs one in an E30 of some variant. Looks promising.

Believe the coming Z4 has the turbo four in the 2012 model line.

Edit: Here now in Z4 2.8 version with 240hp.

It's going to be quite a few years, as in more than a decade, before these are into an E30 I bet ;) We're barely getting into M/S54s..and thats BARELY.

I'll be surprised. I feel like tuning new cars ended in 2008. With all these gizmos and gadgets these new BMWs use, it's going to be a VERY long time until we can fool these engines to work in an E30.

With V10's in E30's it really just doing stand alone management. These cars can't be all that tough they are not hooked up to an M car with the millions of nano gadgets.

if one can get there hands on the entire driveline, and a full wire harness with all the ECU/PCM/BCM and every other CPU in that car. it can be done, just like these LS1 swaps.
the problem is the $$. and it would be very cool to see one of these in an e30 at the next show.

id rather see a N52 in a E30. being that it is the lightest inline-6 ever made. get the high output version and the car would be a beast with 255hp at the crank

Besides the piper car , v10 swaps are not running vanos.

This. No turbo crap to deal with, just smooth naturally aspirated HP.
                            Lets see..
The lightest inline 6 ever and the most HP per pound of weight.
                            3.0 liter; 85mm bore x 88mm stroke; 10.7:1 compression ratio.
More hp than an s52 stock vs stock.
Can get to 300hp (crank) easier than an s52.
272HP stock in it's best stock configuration.
Makes that power with a very flat, smooth torque curve.
Max torque at 2750 rpm and max HP at 6600 rpm.
                            7000 rpm stock redline.

It's not even about the power though, it's about the weight. This would make for a very light front end e30 with s52-like power. You would have great weight distribution, great turn in, and overall reduced weight. Isin't that what the e30 is all about?

The only real disadvantage I see is dealing with putting it's new technology in an e30 and dealing with it.. like having an electric water pump and no dipstick would suck. Aluminum bolts that can't be reused sucks too.
