    Budget Goals??

I am looking to build a 250whp m20 turbo motor.
Main thing for me is for it to be reliable and have a quick spool as this car is being raced.
Looks Like a I can go with a TCD Manifold and a small T3 turbo.
One thing that i have no idea on is engine management
what would be the best setup for keeping this thing from blowing up.

Also forgot to mention, i am currently running Miller maf conversion, would the War chip at this point be my best bet?
Also what turbo would you recommend for low lag and my power goals?

miller war chip is fine for your hp goal and since you have the maf..

hx35 will do the job perfectly

    good luck,

Hmm so a hx35 and a tcd manifold or manifold adapters, and besides that i guess i would need injectors, piping waste gate, bov, IC and and a frsh head gasket and bolts

tcd logs needs a on-center turbine housing.

id say the adapters would flow better then the tdc manifolds. and would give better spool in return.

Tcd manifolds are too expensive for what they are. An adapter is one option or if you want to go really cheap then a notched 324td manifold could work. You could also run a late 80's volvo garret t3. They spool up really quick. And could be found at a pick n pull wrecker for cheap.
250hp isn't such a big power goal so that along with your Miller Maf and w.a.r chip should tie in well together and give you that extra kick your after.

I would say that manifold adapters are better than TCD manifold..

30lbs injectors will work good with the war chip and they are enough to take you to 250 hp

better to run a wasgated turbocharger rather than spend $$ on external wastegate

Oh, don't forget to O-ring your block!

hx35 is overkill. I second the volvo turbo... I ran one on my last build and it should support that kind of power. Note that the early 80's turbos are larger than the later models... mine was the early. My suggestion: 666 turbo adapter plus the volvo turbo - it should be reasonably cheap, reliable, and easy to install. Run whatever engine management you feel most comfortable with. I went with megasquirt which is overkill, but fun to play with and can support a lot more power down the road.

                Next to an HX-35

                Hint: it's for sale...

Hmm that seems like some nice options
now to just decide if i want to turbo the car and have to trailer it to all the races or to go with s50 swap and keep the car street legal.

TCD manifold is also a T4 flange. Take a look at the condor speed shop build. Pretty much exactly what you want to do. I'll be doing the same thing next month on my 316i

Just because you have a turbo doesn't mean it can't be drivable on the street...

                          ^^Very true.
But if this is your dd then I'd buy a cheap shitter to drive around in while you car is off the road and ironing out the bumps which you'll have to do with any project car.
