Do you know how to use the interwebz?

...tons of companies sell them, hit up BluntTech. I think you'd be better off with O-Ringing it with an OEM h/g but it's up to you. Read up braa :D

lol the famous mls vs oring-ed head debate.

im pro mls myself. i dont see how they can fail if they are installed right with clean straight surfaces. and its less work then oring-ing

yeah, im f*ing lazy. its 4am here. sucks balls. yeah, at first i heard of thicker gaskets to lower compression. now this new craze of o-ringinginging. what does the oring do? does it lower compression? how tf, why, i dont even...

oringing basically seals the combustion chamber better. the added forces from the boost tend to leak past factory h/g's the mls are stronger in that respect. as is oringing. its just another line of defense. the softer factory type h/g clamp down tight around it. just like rubber orings seal pipes and tubes to the outer wall of their casings.

o, i see. but when you get a thicker head gasket, it drops compression so i can run more boost. right? does o-ringing drop compression as well? or just seals it? every boosted car i see has an mls gasket. can i make the same amount of power with a normal hg and o-rings?

There is a slightly different between the two when comparing the compression

o-ringing the block wont drop the compression as same as the mls gasket

but, don't put a very thick hg as even with the stock thickness mls gasket you can run more boost, it depends on so many things, number one is the TUNING

i always imagined tuning as a way to just get more power, i didnt really know it would help with insurance

a GOOD tuning will safe you from blowing your motor either you put an mls gasket or o-ringed the block, and a WELL tuned m20 can handle lots of boost even with just o-ringig.. all other things are stock, stock compression..

i agree TUNING TUNING TUNING. tune well or dont bother. no style hg or oringing is no safe guard against a shit tune. you could have a 2" mls head gasket and youll still blow the motor if the tune is shit. extreme i know. but need to know what you are dealing with.

my turbo build will include mls hg, arp head studs, gt35 turbo, 1bar min boost, and countless hours of tuning on the dyno.

i see, i see. so basically fuck everything and tune that shit till it sings like a piano

Check out trm they can remote tune for you. What will happen is they will give you a base tune to get your car driving then you take it to a dyno do some pulls, then you send them your data and then they make up a tune to suit you. A lot of the 24v vanos guys go with this option.
How much power are you hoping to make? What turbo are you gonna run? How much boost do you want to set it to?
M50 motors have a fairly high compression ratio. Dropping that compression is what's needed if your gonna start pushing more power. I don't really like the idea of running a thicker mls gasket to drop the cr but a lot of guys do it anyway, not many people are willing to buy and install lower compression pistons. But let me tell you buying an MLS .140" gasket isn't as simple as cleaning the head and deck and placing it on. You have to machine your head and block flat with a nice surface finish to prevent your hg from leaking oil its very common on the 24v motors around the timing case area.
Arps are must imo I don't like the thought of running factory stretch bolts with boost.
And like the other guys said tuning should be your biggest concern with any engine not just turbos, a single ping is like smacking the top of your pistons with a hammer. It's the one thing you want to get right.

                              trm tunes m20s?

But yes, as other people are telling you, tuning is key.
You can make 350whp on a stock m20 with a good tune, or blow it up at 250whp with a bad tune at the same boost levels
