UUC m5 flywheel on turbo e30??

okay so I was finishing my m3 last month and I ran into some problems with the flywheel and starter. the m20 flywheel I had would not turn with the m20 starter and the zf320 trans. anyway the combination I finally got to work was a uuc m5 flywheel with a e34 m5 starter but the the UUC flywheel is something like 8.5 pounds wtf...

What can I do to improve my spool?
Will this flywheel make it where I get boost way later?
Can I increase load, make spool better in other ways like heavier wheels, longer diff etc.

    My setup is 3.0 m50
    zf320 trans
uuc aluminum flywheel m5 pp 4 puck sprung clutch
    borg warner 70 trim turbo.

Been reading up on this for the past week and can't find info from a good source or someone who had both. Generally I see turbo guys going ltw with no issues though.

I think sharky uses one on his turbo set up he would be a good guy to ping.

Some questions: How much power are you looking to put down? What is the application and what is your main concern?

*I don't know much about turboing the m50, but my last car was a turboed 4g63 Eclipse - and because it was a smaller 4 I kept the flywheel stock for the rotational mass.

I mean I build the motor for like 600hp ( cam forged rods, forged pistons, s52 crank)but these days I will prob just keep it at 10psi and get whatever I get. I really want the car to be reliable these days..

Your car now should be reliable! Focus on tuning in even @ 10psi, you'll get a reliable power

            What's your turbo specs?

Turbo guy here. Have ran both Light fly and heavy on same engine.

for road racing the light weight unit is nicer as its easier to spike rpm's with a blip of throttle for downshifting.

for drag racing heavy flywheel is better because it makes the "spool" feeling happen sooner; something to do with more load from heavier mass attached.

For Drifting It could roll either way

Street use = heavier is better for turbo.

OEM comparison for STi engines I have driven in same car:

                turbocharged:

6mt sti 2500cc engine flywheel is about 28lbs
                5mt wrx 2000cc engine is 22-28 lbs
                aftermarket exedy chromoly 13lbs

                NA cars:

                5mt from 2500cc engine 20lbs
                5mt from 2200cc engine 15lbs

NA - lighter flywheel = more response from engine
Turbo engine - heavier flyhwheel = more response from Turbo
                OBD1 M54/M52TU swap as a M50b25

Z4 non powered steering rack fits e30

                Euro e46 2005/6 320d 6mt gearbox into E30 with M20 hardy and beck 1985 327s engine
