how dose methanol keep the engine cooler? and ya i was thinking about that i dont think a rising rate fuel regulator will quite do the trick lol

Yeah, do what HSV did and run TONS of methanol. Also, how do you plan on adding extra fuel under boost?

It's common sense though. An intercooler will lower intake temperatures which will help with detonation which in turn will help your engine last longer since you haven't mentioned anything about management. Do you have a way to retard timing under boost?

8 lbs is fine without an intercooler. IF you do your research and can fabricate, $800 isn't that unreasonable.

im not sure were to start, i get what your saying and ya it makes sense and i want to make sure it is reliable. honestly i was thinking about getting a top end off another 318 and replacing what i need to upgrading what i need to ( rockers and head bolts) and cleaning it all up new gaskets when i up it on all that good stuff. i only have one car and i live on my own so this way my car wont be down.

DO NOT run an intercooler-less turbo system. Common sense. You WILL need an engine management system (Figure $200 minimum for MS if you can find a deal on it). A manifold or adapter (you could make an adapter for around $50 or so). The turbo you can find for Free-$300. Then comes the intercooler/blow-off-valve/wastegate. In reality, yes, you can turbocharge your vehicle for the cost of a manifold/adapter and a turbo. But, it will run like shit, and blow your engine without the rest of the system. Do more homework, figure out what you need, and don't rush it, or you will regret it. The m10 is perfectly slow the way it is. Until you are ready to throw some real money at it, leave it the way it is, and it will treat you well

well forever of course! honestly i would like it to be fairly reliable im talking to hvturbo and he has a manifold i could afford that bolts to a t3 turbo and his system dose not use an inter cooler so i really like it, makes feel like this is doable.

    No.

It's really that simple. The answer is no.

How long realistically do you want/expect the motor to run?

    M10 turbo questions

i have decided that i want to turbo my engine in the near future, but as im sure you have all suspected, i have no money! so i was wondering if a turbo could be done for 800 dollars, the bare bare bare minim i can get away with. im only looking to run around 8 psi, at the start as time goes on i will build it up. so anyone is this doable and in any way realistic?? also is there any good diagrams of turbo set ups or good books that i can get my hands to to learn all i can? thanks for your thoughts
