FLG Tell me why you would advise someone to disconnect a vital sensor to somehow increase HP?
Well. Obviously you never really played around with E30s. On newer cars I would agree. On the E30 is an easy way to make some HP. All the O2 sensor does is check the mixture. Nothing else. You disconnect the sensor and the Motronic goes to default in the mixture. It will keep the normal ignition and timing tables. All it does it takes the rpm signal, throttle signal and AFM signal and uses this information for the fuel injection. And to be on the safe side the Motronic will make the engine run a bit rich. This is where the HP increase comes into play. Yes, your fuel mileage will go up as always if you want more power. I'm running my E30s now for years without the O2 sensor. No problem at all. In Germany they don't even have a check engine light for that.
Cheers! :D
