E30 engine swap and turbo questions

    Hello,
I've got an '86 325e with 5 speed transmission. Want to swap engines and boost it.

what's the easiest engine swap that will yeild good results? did a search and can't really find an answer. i don't think boosting my 2.7L would be any good for anything.

stick with an M20? aside from motor and wiring harness, ecu, what else needs to be changed for these swaps? Transmission bolt right up etc?

any help is appreciated as always.
    thx

This has been covered MANY MANY times. Search 'E to I Conversion' and then boost your little heart out.

Just buy a complete 2.5 motor. Not worth the fuck around.

I wouldn't know the prices of a complete m20b25 where your from. All I know on Australia they cost a shit load, a lot of the time your better off buying a good m50b25nv for less and going through with the swap.
I just advise getting a complete motor because you'll need everything that is on there. If you really want to go with a 2.7 then you'd keep everything from the i motor and swap blocks.

Boosted M50 will yeild great results.

If you want to stick with m20....

2.7 block and 2.5 head, MS ECU

My 2.7i dynoed 320whp @13 psi, engine was rebuilt, its on stock hg with arp studs

A m50 would probably get you 400 hp

EBay crap...but hey it works, 20k on it so far with no oil leaks and no shaft play. If you want exact numbers I'll have to ask my buddy who I got the setup from as we just swapped it from his car to mine.

I've went up to 19 psi and she pulls like a freight train till I started running out of motor at 140 mph (3.73 gears)

Reliability is all in the tune. Arp studs and stock hg with zero issues thus far.
