    Starting to look into turbos

So now that I am up on maintenence with my car (still working on cosmetics) I am starting to toy with the idea of a turbo. From what i am seeing they tend to be the more cost effective option for power plus seem to be less complicated then doing a full engine swap.

So Here is what I am trying to do. I am looking for a 14.00 or less car, roughly about 225-250 rwhp. I'd like to keep stock internals and have minimal lag.

I have looked at a few kits online but they seem to be pricey (3500 +/- and don't have everything. I've read that piecing a kit together is more econmical.

So looking for advise, suggestions, and setup ideas. I have never had a F/I car before so this will be my first turbo build. I have an understanding of whats involved and have been reading on here, e30tech etc.

Just looking to get a jumping off point...

You have a lot of decisions to make. For a quality job, kits are probably more economical and will result in less headaches provided it's a good quality kit. If doing a custom build, you have a lot of reading to do, then put together a part list and budget, triple your budget, then get to work. Also, for your power goals, I believe you will need to swap in head studs.

My advice is to do the engine swap. +1 on "triple your budget"

DO TURBO although you can have 225-250hp with a direct swap + few goodies and less complicated, but turbo is more fun, reality ..

For your goal you'll just have to O-ring the block and do a refreshment to the engine and go from there to the turbo parts..

You can find a used cheap parts like injectors, turbo, and the other new stuff are not too expensive since you don't want big numbers, just go with some Chinese (copy) parts.. and here are some of what you'll need:

          HX35 turbo internally wastgated
          homemade manifold adapter
IC, charge pipes (2.5") and bov(optional)
          Exhaust (3")
          24lb Injectors
          MFU
          Turbo chip (Ebay)
          M30 AFM(optional)

If you have m20b27 motor you'll have to swap an "i" head ...

          Good luck

No need to o-ring for your power goals. Best budget turbo parts are wyntonm's stuff on ebay.

this. I'm running a wyntonm BOV myself and love it. If you want a WG, let me know - I have a brand new wyntonm one that I'll sell at a discount. I went with a TiAL on my car.
