Wastegate too close to oe manifolds?

I picked up a "custom" manifold adapter for the m20 to a top side t3 with external 38mm wg... I was doing a mock up and it seems with the tial 38mm mounted it is <1'' from the original exhaust manifold.. Is there any rule of thumb if this would be too close? I am just making sure it will not see excessive heat and have things go wrong.
