    M50 turbo on standard management??

    Hi, just joined :)

My E30 has a M50 engine (vanos) with red label ECU, had it a while but im now craving more power so turbo is on the cards.

My power goal is around 280-300hp, is there a proven recipe for this goal? ie what turbo should i go for? injectors? also i remember reading somewhere that with low boost i can keep my standard management but does this need anything doing to it? is there an off the shelf chip i can use? i know standalone is the perfect option but its also expensive.

Sorry for all the questions ive tried searching the net but no definitive answer ive been told by a friend this is the place to ask.:D

Is it worth noting im in the UK with choice of 95 and 99ron fuel (dont know if it makes a difference)

    Thanks!

I will just give you the answer I've read (in the process of a turbo stroker) but all this info can be answered on your own research.

Google for Jordan's massive turbo write up

    Read Corkey bells maximum boost

Stick to e30tech they have more turbo guys. I do not like e30tech because they will not let me sign up and have been a rev member since ownership of my first e30.

I know m20s can be ran with a turbo chip which retards timing and raises rev limiter. You can use a bigger mad and use rrfpr to increase fuel with boost. As for pricing the m20 stand alone is not much more money for a pnp standalone yet the standalone allows much finer tuning and reliability.

For 300hp you don't need to do anything to the engine, just refresh it, or for more safety, O-ring your block. "cheap"

      hx35 will do the job
      42lb injectors
      fpr
      stock pump

For engine management i suggest to use a S-AFC from Apexi "easy, cheap, good" this should leads you to more than your power goals..

^ these guys said it. But as for management, I'm a huge supporter of standalone. Megasquirt is my favorite. I know it seems daunting at first but the end result is way better. Off the shelf chip tunes like TRM are pretty expensive. You can get an MS3 w/ MS3x computer for about $700 hat will give to way more control over your engine, whereas the TRM tunes are like $1500 and don't allow you to self tune.

For your power goal a stock compression M50 at 8psi will make 300hp.
