When you press the gas and the turbo starts to spool it takes
a while, maybe 10 full seconds, depending on spool,
for the boost to come down

so if you boost in traffic remember to always calculate how much you're boosting vs how long you have to stop.
Imagine rolling off in 1st from a light after full boosting 5psi!! Turbo is still full boosting at idle!
It can be tricky, but you need to learn how to drive boosted cars.

That's why there are turbo timers or else if you do a hella sick full boost run it'll keep
boosting with the engine off and that hurts the turbo and hurt engine seals. GL!

Just get in and drive the thing, you're over thinking it.

I agree. my first car was boosted and it's not a big deal. You're still in control of the power you put down. I always felt that having a turbo was actually safer, because of the small amount of lag before getting all your torque.

If you can handle the car in 1st and 2nd, you will do just fine. If you afraid of doing more than 100mph, the turbo isn't the problem, it's the driver.

I have been driving with an eta my whole 11 years of driving. Friend loved my driving style and sucked at stick. Asked me to drive him in his Viper...550 NA hp is unreal and stupid fun. So a 300-350hp car in my mind is easy to drive. Just be smart! And 2 years of driving...now you want boost? There is a reason you are scared. Learn to drive, 2 years is nothing.

Check out MF Doom. About 450 at the wheels from a built up m42. One guy on m42club has 500+. But yes of course a bigger displacement engine would have a higher maximum output, I'm just saying that even an m42 can do okay.
