M20 is at it's peak limit at that number without being "built" or meth introduced.
And the power delivery isn't as fun.. It'll be a dog out of boost.

Too much $$$ for something the m52 can also achieve.

You say that now. I'd think an m54 would be a great motor. Has s52 crank and more wall thickness IIRC. Plus aluminum block.

What's the benefit of an aluminum block vs. iron on boost?
          heat dissipation?

I think its the fact that you have a similar displacement, thicker walls but overall less weight.

I think now a days with the flood of m50s everywhere it would be best to use them.
m20 imo if you're REEALLY doing it on a budget. Either way 300hp+ is a given.

the m54 is terrible for beating on. The block needs to be time-serted for studs and the oil pumps have a habit of shearing when the motor sees extended high rpm use. The M52 is the way to go - it has forged internals and will take a LOT of boost. Card counter was making over 600 whp before his stock bottom end blew up at around 680 whp iirc. The M52 is the best stock NA BMW I6 for boost.

This is awesome!!! That is kinda umm insane!
But honestly where can you drive around with 630 hp?! Lol. That's so much! I'm not saying it won't be the funnest thing you have driven.. But other then a strip where can you hit full boost?

Another one for m52+boost. Or a basic m30b35+boost is a total monster on stock internals/MLS ARP. Just see what Good & Tight does with an M30. Tons cheaper than a m52 to get and reseal.

m20 is a capable motor, however it sounds like the m52 and m30s can be absolute monsters.

I will look into the m52, but i dont like the sound of it being a obd2 n having to put it back to 1:( although... if it has forged internals, then there would be no point of building it! Which that is a plus on the $$$$ side:)
Thanks you guys for the info.
