Turbo under $350, want around 300hp. Cxracing?

Ok guys, I just bought an almost complete setup from one of our fellow users on here. (Who can speak up if they want lol) I'm piecing the last parts together now. I'm going to run an external wastegate. What are my options here? The previous owner was running a super 60, but I can't seem to find one in my budget. Thanks a bunch!

Should give you an idea what I'm thinking... I was looking at H1c or maybe hx35. I guess what I'm asking is should I be looking for a rebuilt, or should I go chinese. Thanks

Holset is of much. Higher quality and reliability. Just think about the r&d budgets and cost spent. They are an OE supplier for dodge engines and others. They are very stout. Not saying the Chinese stuff won't make power for you, but it's definitely not the same quality.

Yeah if you're looking for a durable and cheaper turbo off a used vehicle, a Holset is the way to go I've heard. I know that the DSM guys run HX40s and can make like 500 bhp off a properly built 4G63 and tune. Our motors are at least that tough if not more-so,and we have bigger displacement to play with. 300 bhp, no problem if you're willing to put time and effort into it. If you want to spend some more money any get a full kit that's pretty much proven for up to about 400 bhp, contact Kam on here. I can't remember his SN, i think its Kamomotors, but its a red 325is. His car actually got featured on /Drive on youtube if you want a reference lol but for like 4k or so, he'll piece you together a kit very similar to the one on his own E30 and send you his tune. He's done it for several people, and has great reviews. But if you just wanna piece together your own kit go for it lol

At least from what I've seen, people price-gouge really hard on the non-wastegated HX35s. Most of the H1Cs you find will have really big exhaust housings (like 18cm^2 or 21cm^2). I have an H1C and it takes about 1.83 years to spool.

Holsets seem to be seriously reliable, but they're kind of overkill (in size) until you get into the 350+ whp range. Your best bet for a holset would be to find an HX35w with a small exhaust housing and well the wastegate flapper shut.

Super 60 or a small T04e sound like they would be good for ~300whp. I know a guy who uses the ebay stuff for Chump Car (LeMons racing). He seems to blow them up semi-regularly, and parts aren't always easy to find for them, unless they're exact copies of Garretts (and can use their rebuild kits). It sounds like he's moving to the ebay t04e, since they're so cheap/available.

You should talk to the thetacoman, he is changing his setup and is selling his old stuff for a really good price, be PERFECT for what you want.

Sorry I thought I had responded to this.

I'm not sure about sizing on the HX35s. For that amount of boost the largest I'd get is a 12cm^2. I believe there is an 8cm^2 one, but I've never heard about someone running one.

Super 60 or small t04e would be good options for 12 PSI too
