Just so you know squire turbo systems makes non-intercooled rear-mounted turbo systems for cars. One thing to remember, you need an oil pump to keep proper oil flow to the turbo and back to the block. Check them out for better insight, rather than the people who just rant and not contribute. btw, don't expect the same results as those builds. it would be a good idea to look into a turbo heat wrap. heat shielding the gas tank, and oil lines. also you will need to heat wrap the exhaust system if you plan on running the charge pipes in parallel to the exhaust system. You can not run the car slammed, stanced, or the sort because you are guaranteed to crush the charge pipes.

look at the brz build one. that is about the closest to what you are trying to accomplish.

Lol. Think I'll go with a stage 4 gripforce, maybe clutch masters. Thanks for the help guys.

God you're annoying. Just leave dude, completely unhelpful.

Found piping and a zf320 locally. Clutch kit suggestions that can hold some power without bleeding me dry?

You also have to remember alot of the rear mount guys are running v8s where low boost will achieve 500hp. Over all Imo this not the best idea that is going to end up costing the same for a system that more complicated and possibly more costly.

I'll be running e85 as well. IAT's are not ideal but it's not unbearable either. Again, not a big deal, if my temps are high, I'll install an IC, but seeing what other remote mount setups have done, it's not necessary.

What I'm really worried about is the clutch $$$ and finding piping for cheap. When do we need to go from bolts to head studs?

By the time my exhaust gasses from my manifold reach my muffler, I'm sure it's cooler but I still wouldn't put my hand on it.

Your turbine spinning, producing ~20psi or whatever power you're shooting for should still warrant some sort of heat exchanger!

Idk what an STS is, but an IAT of 140f shouldn't be acceptable lol

By the time the exhaust gases reach the turbo, it's much cooler which means a cooler turbo, which in turn means cooler charge air. Paired with 10' of aluminum piping under a cool car. Even if my IAT's are a bit high, I can always add an intercooler, not a big deal.

Also, did you notice 93FIM5 mentions he's never installed a kit?

I've been reading nothing but people who have remote setups, instead of people trying to find reasons to knock it. There are STS guys with over 500whp on pump gas, no IC, and IAT's around 140f.

    Read this.
    Intercooler basic heat exchange.
    Rear mount turbo issues.

Many cars have come from the factory without BOV's. Turbo flutter and compression surge are different things. True, it is on the weaker side, but I like the shift feel better than the zf's, and it's what I have to work with. I know a bay mounted setup is more efficient, don't care, want to try something different.

    I'm using a g240 with a fairly new g250 oem clutch kit.
    Just, no.
Also the g240 is one of the weaker transmissions if Im not mistaken.
There's a reason why people don't use rear mount turbos on a car where engine bay space is available.

Dunno what I was thinking, definitely going to cost more. I've been doing some more research and this is where I'm at now.

    Hy35: $200-300
    Walbro 416: $150
    Turbowerx pump: $400
    EV14 96lb: $450
    Exhaust: $200
    Piping: $200?
    Oil lines: $100
    Tuning: $500-1500
    Clutch: ???
    Fuel lines -8an: $150

Not going to run BOV or IC since the aluminum piping will cool the air. Going to use the stock wastegate actuator, stock is set around 20-23psi, can be adjusted between 15-25psi? Goal is 450whp on e85.

I'm using a g240 with a fairly new g250 oem clutch kit. Took a sharp corner in 1st to the floor and she started slipping. Not sure what clutches will fit in the g240 bell. Would love some help on finding the best bang for buck clutch. I'd like to be able to use the same clutch in a zf320 down the road when the g240 goes.

Not sure where to buy the piping and couplers either. Mostly 2.25" aluminum then closer to whatever size maf I end up using. Don't care about the piping, as long as it's aluminum and cheap, but want quality couplers.

I've been reading E36 Hater's thread on bf.c and he's been abusing a junkyard m50 with an hx40, 7500 rpm and 550+ with just head studs. Feeling confident in the little m50. Around when does the head start lifting? Would rather hold off on studs.

It can be done only if OP can tune a factory ecu, he knows how to tig weld, and can find everything used. Otherwise...

I am planning a similar setup for my E30 and its very hard to get good advice as a lot of people are quick to shoot down the idea.

Yes, this system will never match a conventional turbo setup, but that's not why we are doing it. In my case I like the idea of having a system that's different from the norm and, if it works, I can't wait to say "I told you so".

If its something you want to do, go for it. I'm in the process of planning my setup as well however I have a slight advantage in that I have acquired an M42 that's been built for the application and I already have a turbo.

    You fight the power brother!

    To be clear.......

No one is shooting down the idea, it's very possible, done on a lot of other vehicles.

What we are pointing out is the price point the OP wants to spend on the build.
