Not E30 related, but turbo miata. At an AutoX this weekend and on the 12th run (two drivers) the driver crosses the finish redlinning 2nd. Pops the car in neutral and the engine is stuck WOT. Shuts the car down, pull it over for inspection. The throttle body is stuck open. Pop the plumbing off and find this...

Turns out that little piece of rubber was being used to stop a piece of metal rubbing on something else, like edging. At one point in time, my buddy took the piping leading to the intercooler off for some reason and that piece of rubber fell off, landed in the intercooler, and then stayed there fore quite a while before finally being sucked up. Luckily it got stuck at the throttle body instead of making it past in getting stuck at the intake mani or worse getting past and wedging itself under a valve.
Anyways, it made us laugh. Figured I'd pass it along a shit that can actually happen, but you would never expect it to.
