Hello, I was about to pull the trigger on this turbo for my project but I thought I would get someones opinion before I commit. This is my first time sizing a turbo, please let me know if I'm way out of line.

I'm looking for around 600hp at about 20 psi on e85. The engine is a fully forged 3.0L M20 with an 8.3:1 CR. The redline will be set at 7200 rpms.

From the research I've done I believe this turbo best fits what I'm looking for. It will be operating within the second and third efficiency islands 0.76-0.74 and spooling to full boost at around 3250 rpms.

This car will be used for some track days but it is not a dedicated track car, mostly a fast n fun weekend car. What I am worried about is that the turbo will be too big and the drivability will suffer. It can flow up to around 70lb/min at my PR. I'm planning on getting the 0.91a/r twin scroll turbine housing in an attempt to get it to spool faster, vs the 1.0 or 1.1 a/r housings.

Am I sizing the turbo correctly? Do you see any flaws in this logic? Does anyone have any experience with these turbos?

    Thanks,
    Ray

Not sure what kind of rush you are in but I can hopefully help you soon
I had issues with tuning my car this weekend but hopefully we will figure it out soon
I am using a similar turbo so can give you an idea, I also have a 2.8 so close in displacement as well

I'm not in too much of a rush. The car probably won't move under it own power for a while, I've got a lot of body work to do also. I'm picking the block up from the machine shop later this week so I'll be assembling the engine soon. Just trying to nail down the final details on the engine.

Yes we have pretty similar engines and turbos! Have you been able to drive the your car yet, or is this your first tuning session? You'll have to let me know how it is when you get the tuning issues worked out.

        This was my first session
I got to drive her a little just not enough to report back on the turbo
