    I still think you shouldnt use bolts in the headers and do what i said, rotate the engine so you can fit the header on and use studs

    but you dont have to listen to me

    More parts came in....













    Air filter assembly and air intake boot removal




    Disconnect the harness connector from the air flow sensor. Remove the (2) air filter housing mounting nuts and remove the air filter assembly.






    Remove the air intake boot between the throttle housing and the air flow sensor.

    I decided to go ahead and just pull out them exhaust stud. This will make my life easier incase i will be pulling out the exhaust manifold again.


    Removal of the exhaust manifold studs from the engine block


    1) PB Blaster is your friend (spray them studs in advance). Screw one of the nuts on backward (used the old exhaust nuts)




    2) Screw on the 2nd nuts on forward (so that the flares meet to each other)




    3) Now get the socket/rachet on the outer nut and slip the closed end wrench onto the inner nut. Tighten the nuts into each other.





    4) Once the stud has broken loose, slip the wrench off of the inner nut and use the socket on the outer nut to back out the stud.

    Bumper, valance and front grill removal







    after everythings pulled out.




    Draining the engine oil and filter



    remove the plug (17mm) and let the oild drain into the pan.




    Loosen the filter by turning it counterclockwise




    Oil cooler and Oil filter housing removal



    Loosen the fittings that attach the oil cooler linesto the oil filter housing




    remove the bolts from the mounting bracket and pull out the cooler




    Loosen the bolt (17mm) to remove the oil filter housing




    Oil filter housing removed.





    Encountered the 2nd Problem :(







    As you can see on the pics, even with the oil cooler lines removed. It just does not have enough space for the manifold to go over the mounting studs. I guess i will be removing them studs and just use bolts instead.

    E30josh replaced the studs with bolts on his exhaust manifolds. It made it much easier to intall the adapter. I hit the line forward with a piece of wood and a hammer, It bends very easily.

    The good thing about those lines is that if you're really good, you can bend them yourself out of the way

    DIY turbocharger install begins.......


    Removal of the exhaust system


    1) Disconnect the oxygen sensor electrical connector and move the wire out of the way.






    2) Disconnect the exhaust pipes from the manifolds. Remove the 3 nuts on each flange connection and lower the exhaust pipes.




    3) Remove the exhaust pipe transmission mount. (14mm nut)




    4) Disconnect the rear muffler mounts and remove the exhaust system. (12mm nut)



    Removal of exhaust manifold




    1) Remove the (12) nuts securing the manifolds to the cylinder head.




    2) After removing the exhaust manifold and heat shield




    Encountered the 1st problem



    Test fitted the turbo adapter and as you can see on the pic, the turbo adapter makes contact with the oil cooler lines. :(
