    How did the test go?

How did you bake the stuff on?

I've seen good results with headers coated by Swain, and a DIY would be awesome!

Not going to get mine ;)

You are near me, I'm in Coral Springs and have a CNC/Fabrication shop in Deerfield Beach, and I LOVE to turbo cars ;)

EDIT: We also got the equipment to ceramic and powder coat :D

I use Columbia's stuff, works excellent, haven't tried the Techline fluids yet.

How did this turn out? Isn't the baking temp @700-800 deg. how are you measuring the difference in radiating heat.

BUT the Firebird is getting totally re-vamped. Probably going with TT this time ;) looking for 500hp out of a 3.4l v6.

Not really. If you think about it, you aren't really cutting 1/2" at a time, plus my partner is a tool/die maker ;). You use a side cutter and are taking off shavings from the end of the piece. And it's dual terret, two tools can cut at the same time, from both sides of the piece. Another nice feature is it's auto bar feed (up to 3" stock), so we can put a stack of 3"x10' bars in the end of the lathe and it spits part into a bin on the other end. It will be delivered next week, maybe I'll post some videos of it running.

I cheked out their site after seeing this thread, what kind of oven are you going to use? I will have a running machine shop by next week and we have a 6000* oven to do stuff like that, I've heard bad things about the "low heat-do it yourself" ceramic/powder coatings.
We are also strarting to develop some affordable forged pistons and billet rods starting with GM 60* parts, and maybe moving on to other mfgrs. Anybody got some junk rods/pistons for me to copy? We bought a CNC lathe yesterday that can take 1/2" of aluminum off in one swipe at 6k RPMs.

    [/hijack]

I'm subscribed to see how this works.

Check out the Swain Tech site. They do the piston crowns, skirts, combustion chambers (with valves installed) and the exhaust ports. But not the cylinder walls.

Is that one of those pepboys 750lb engine stands?
I have my spare m20 on one and it scares me everytime I see it

I've never heard of coating the pistons or the cylinder walls before

Do it on something random when you get done with everything and have something left over, like someone's shoe.
