    It's done! It's done!

So I spent all day yesterday and I fabricated a new intake out of 3" aluminum. I also welded a new bung so the blow off valve connects in about the same distance as the intake supplied by AA. I routed the new intake pipe over the existing ABS, down behind the headlight, connecting to the MAF and the air filter is down below and behind the front bumper, next to the fog lights. I closed the bottom of the skirt with ABS plastic, (from the car audio days) molded to fit using a heat gun and some gloves, that way no water will splash up onto the filter. Putting it all together was no problem at all! The intake route was pretty simple and it works great!

After all the piping, I was nervous about starting the engine, but when I turned the key, it started right up. Idled rough at the start but settled down in a few minutes. The performance is incredible! I can't wait to get the car into a dyno so I can see the overall performance.

    Enjoy the pics!

Congrats! Looks like a neat job!

Is there no lower shield for the air intake?

        Dyno, dyno, dyno!

I fabricated a lower shield out of ABS plastic typically used for installing head units into a non factory openings, molded it using a heat gun. This way the air filter is protected from water splashing up from underneath. I'll take some pics of the shield when I get the car on a hoist. Thanks for the comments!

So dynoing will have to wait. I drove the car this afternoon and I smashed it into a couple of cars

I guess it will have to wait until I get the car back out of the repair shop. I smashed up both front fenders and the new airbox I just made.....

              No way!

I'm gutted for you, after all your effort!

Best of luck in getting the car back on the road.

The damage isn't too bad, structually the car is fine, no damage to the hood or front grille. There is damage to the bumper, the RD lower skirt and both front fenders though.... Should have it back on the road in a few weeks.
