    Supercharged M30

Since I'm looking into building an m30 with FI...I figured it would be great to S/C it and make it a torque monster. I don't want to hear "it's a waste of time" or "turbo it" because i've made up my mind...kinda. Fabbing up brackets and such is part of the fun of doing something different.

My point being...as I've done my research I've obviously come across a plethora of stock supercharged cars. I have looked into the Eaton M90 and M112 along with their maps...does anyone have any insight on which one might work better? I've also read that the newer years are vastly superior to the older, which years?? Along with Eaton, what about vortec, whipple, powerdyne...are there any that might mate well with the m30? I'm definitely new to S/C so any input is appreciated.

is there any such thing as a Vbelt supercharger? There is not much room to convert to serpentine...

Serpentine belts are what the M50 has for example, one long belt for everything.

M20's, for example, have Vbelts - separate belts for each item. AC, PS, and water pump each have their own belt.

          oops, forgot to respond...
The M30 has barely enough room in the engine bay for the pulleys it has... a half inch wider serpentine belt is likely to hit the radiator...

          not much room

holy crap...pulley is very close to the radiator!

What position is your m30 in? I'm hoping that I can get it far back enough to run it.

There are a few guys on e30tech and e30zone that ran s/c on the m20 and either switched the alternator and a/c position so that the s/c can be located on the driver side where the alternator was.

In either case it's going to take some fabrication and I know it!! Any other input would be great! Thanks funkmasta

I made my own mounts, so I am not sure where it lies in relation to the DE mounts.

The back of my cylinder head is 1/4-1/8 inch from the firewall, (which was not modified). However, I have a b35 head so there is no rear water jacket port. If I had a b34 motor, I would have had to modify the firewall for sure.

Only the very early M30s are B35s right? Those have the rear water jacket. All the newer ones are B34s

You are right about the early (euro) cars being b35s with the rear jacket.

However, the late b35s (89+) are also b35s, but do not have the rear jacket.

according to your pictures... and my E30.de mounts, they are almost exactly the same place. Since i said "no A/C", i just cut off that last pulley. grinded it down, now I have a good inch in between, but it was really close last time.
