    torque down low

    hey all.
I'm turboing my E30 325 and was just after some advice on internals.
My goal is 350 kw at the wheels. Now I want It to have alot of torque down low but im not sure if the engine internals have a bearing on this. Will the hybrid 2.7L suit me or is there another option? I dont want to do an engine swap
    thank you.

So, about 470 bhp? That's possible, but an engine swap would be much more reliable and cheaper. You can get a keyway put on an S50/S52 crank and get lots more displacement, M30 AFM, maybe even some 666 fab manifolds if you've got the money, and a big ol' turbo could get you lots of power, not necessarily your goal, but an e30 with some simple weight reduction can weigh sub 2500. 400 bhp will have you running down corvette Z06's, and you can get that by putting an LSx in your car, and you'll get all the torque you could ever want, not to mention tremendous support for more and more power.

You wouldnt get anywhere close to 400 hp if you were using an AFM. You have to go with an aftermarket ecu. Something with a table bigger than 12x12

you'd be lucky to get 250hp on an afm..considering the biggest injector i believe you can run on the stock system is a 32lb...maybe even only 24lbs..

for your goals..megasquirt, big turbo, big injectors, nice manifold, etc and a lot of time on the dyno. but very possible....

but honestly if you want close to 500 hp then i would suggest m50 vanos swap. would be a lot less crazy turbo setup for that goal

I dont want to do the engine swap! I am going to turbo it and i will be using motec not megasquirt as its easier to get where I am. Ive got the engine out so I want to do the internals first then the manifolds. On the intake manifold would the runner length affect the torque?
