    2.8 turbo...some ?'s

    Starting to gather parts....couple ?'s
so as some of you know, I'm doing th 2.8 turbo m20. basically I'm trying to gather all the parts before i do anything.

    so...

    2.7 "e" block ( have it)
    524td crank (getting very soon)
    "i" head (have it)

    now comes in the questions....
for pistons, i think im going to go through IE and have them make me a set. I was reading i think from r3vlimited or dtm, that they can make custom forged pistons to make the lower comprsion. Or, i can have a shop make me a copper headgasket (mabye .3 thick) and that could make a lower compression as well. But the problem of making compresion to low would be big turbo lag.

So, what compression do you think i should shoot for and how should i go about it ( pistons or head gasket or mabye a little of both) ?

Any idea on what size pistons would be best?

Any other recomendations or tips for my project?

also, what in the world should i do about a cam?

remember, this is for a turbo set up. im not sure how much psi i want to run, possibly around 10-15...not to sure, ideas?

    Thanks

Stock 84-87 ETA pistons will lower your compression to around 8.1, which is a great comp for turbo. Plus they will cost nothing. Just a thought.

There's a few companies that make copper headgaskets of various thicknesses. Combine with ARP racing head studs or Metric Blue headbolts.

The stock cam is actually pretty good for boost from what I understand. With the mild amount of boost you plan on running you should be fine.

      9:1 and standalone managment...

      IMHO, I would go with a 84mm stroke (M52b28) and 84mm pistons...
