ZF 4HP22 Auto. How much power can they take?

    Hi all,

First post and unfortunetly...no, i don't own a e30, but I do own an e34 that I am in process of turboing.

I have done all the required engine mods to it (MCS head gasket, head studs, welded head), and i'm slowing gathering the turbo bits but the current issue i'm having is, what sort of power can these ZF 4HP22 auto's take? Can't find any information on the net about them and no one seems to do any mods to them so can anyone help me out?

And for the record, no, i'm not converting it to manual, I already have the manual fast car, i want the nice, relaxing auto car that has power

    Cheers

if I was going to choose an automatic car to make fast the slushbox e30 would be at the bottom of my list. I feel like they are just dying to break with stock power.

I blew one sliding around in the snow in my 6 series (same trans, different bellhousing section). I am not a fan of the way they shift, or the confidence they inspire.

    Get a holden or something

eh, they can take lots of torque (Land Rovers with 4.0 v8s have them), and are MOSTLY strong-ish, just dont rev the motor with the trans in neutral. Very bad.

btw, you can "upgrade" a 4hp22 with Land Rover parts (bigger torque converters, pumps, and oil pan)
