Film:Two Norwegian E30 turbos (S38turbo&M20turbo) driving on frozen lake w/rallytires

Hello guys! :)

Me and some friends of mine usualy drive on a local frozen lake in weekends in the winter here in Norway. And this weekend i brought along my camera to get some of the fun on tape :)

So here it goes..

The featured cars is an E30 S38B36 turbo 0,6-0,8 bar 442whp (the one with rally head lights) and a E30 M20 2,7 Turbo 1,1 bar 397whp. The cars are driving on studded rallytires to have any chance of gripping. But as you can se, it mooore than enough power...

I'm glad you guys liked it :) As far as i know there is almost no videos before of E30 turbos driving on ice like this.

Regarding the S38 sounding odd: Inboard or outboard you reacted to the sound? If it's inboard i can understand. The car i completely stripped of any weight, and riped out everything resembling comfort. It's also so stiff (with doubble twisted springs around the whole car, ideal for drifting) that the camera shut down during driving when it was mounted. You can also hear some backfire out off the sharpest corners. The compressorside of the turbo is also somewhat small, and you can hear the turbo "balancing"/surging when the trottle's not is wide open due to pressure-equalizing. To drive this over longer distanses you need ear and ass protection :p There is strange sounds all the time, like in other supercars :nice:

Here is a clip during dynoing. Due to lack of grip it's not able to get the boost up from 0,6bar. On the road it charges witout problem 0,8-1,0. We will se in the summer, how much is safe. An old M30 tranny and stock rear subframe will not last an eternity.
