    Fuel Pump noise

So I noticed a buzzing the other day from the fuel pump. It manifested itself after a long day of driving between 3k-4k RPM. Today, however, it is gone.

Any ideas? Worth buying a new pump now and putting it in the trunk in case it strands me? Also, what pump to buy as a replacement?

I'm curious about this too. Mine's been doing this since I bought the car two years ago - I recently drove the car to Ohio (5.5 hours each way) and the buzz was much worse after that. Still hasn't left me stranded at least! :)

It did it again on the way home from an autoX two hours away. I guess it's brought on by hard driving, or maybe all the sloshing breaks something loose that gets sucked into the pump, which the pump later spits out. Still hasn't stranded me, either.

I would definitely have a backup on hand (just because).

Is this an in-tank or an early setup?

My early tank does that sometimes too, I replaced it awhile back when I noticed fuel smell by the rear driver's side tire just in case.

Early model underbody mount. Easy 10-min swap either way.
