    something funky going on

I just put a new alternator in my car and it worked nicely 2 days ago. I went to start it just now and it would start, idle for a bit, and when i gave it a bit of gas it turned off. THEN, I tried to start it again, the engine turned over and fired up, but then shut off immediately, it does this consistantly. WHAT THE HELL!!

can anyone help? I want to start driving this thing!!

I would check for vac leaks first and foremost, then check fuel.

check all vac lines, electrical connectors, the tension on the fan belt around the alternator, then check for fuel and ignition. also you could be running rich so when you stepped on the throttle it added to much gas and killed it so also check your mixture and make sure your spark timing is right. also check to make sure your cold start valve works properly and isn't constantly running.

OKAY, so I turned it on, let it warm up, battery light was on, and when it got warmer and stepped on the gas the battery light came off, which is good. Now, I took it for a little drive around the neighbourhood and the idle on my last lap slowly dropped, probably to around 300, and it died when I was about to back it up into my garage. I turned the key and it started right back up again without a problem....what the hell. Any ideas?

I feel like I might have figured it out, let me know if you think this is possible:

The car has a huge turbo, boosting 12PSI and it was built to race in the Newfoundland Targa. It's got a HUGE fuel pump and a Megasquirt. The fuel pump can be heard over the engine - and the engine is loud. Is it possible that its set to pump a lot of fuel, giving me a really rich idle because it's designed to be under constant boost? When I was driving it I was boosting, but not too much. So could it be the the lack of air in the air/fuel mixture is causing it to run a low idle and eventually die? Let me know what you think about this. Thanks a lot.

woah!!! how did you not know b4, that you had a turbo and MS!? this probably would've helped earlier! make sure your running top grade fuel and take it to someone that knows turbos and MS or fuel injection/mapping.

                  has the temperature changed significantly?

what did your AFRs look like? I guess it didn't have time to heat up?
