Okay, thanks. I think I will retard it a little bit and see if that helps.

Well, I played with it a little bit, when I retarded it so the idle was around 800-900, it wouldn't rev hardly, so I brought it back up a little, and it was real sluggish reving off idle, but was fine after that, so I pretty much put it back to where it was, maybe a tad retarded (or so I might sound) but where I still have response with little/no sputtering down low. Will have to see if that helps with fuel consumption.

If it helps, I was constantly playing with mine all the time, and I settled to have my top end power available. It's quite nice ripping an M10 car through the gears at 3k+ until you hit cruise.

Yeah sometimes there finicky like that. When you say fuel consumption, how bad is it? Is it like v8 bad, or v6?

Well, I live near some hills, and these don't like hills, so I figure that is the main problem. I'll probably throw in some fresh plugs since I know the current ones are a little gunked up from not being gapped large enough. It's not super bad, but it just seems like it should get better mileage. There might be the possibility of a fuel leak near the filter or abouts. I can't smell it, but I see a little puddle under my driver side and before it was brake fluid, well, I fixed all those leaks so not brake fluid now. I'll do more investigating in a couple days

Oh ok, I use the Bosch E4 spark plugs and I really like them. I can't tell you how much they help out with gas mileage, but when I started running those I did an intake and started running octane boost through it and I got around 5 miles extra to the gallon. The one thing I noticed right off the bat with those E4 is that is runs and idles alot smoother than it did when I bought it. I definitely recommend these, If you don't mind spending $5 a plug.

I only use BOSCH W8DC spurk plugs! OEM and the engine is always smooth and revs ok!
I ll have to thank you all for your answers as well! I m experimenting with timing too!
Next fill up will be 100 octane fuel.We ll see how it goes!

No race fuel here, but I do only use 91 octane. Messed with my timing some more, found I was more happy with the higher idle and improved power, so I left my car advanced, actually, more so than it was originally. It's a vast improvement in power, and I can deal with the louder noise when at a stop sign for the added performance. As I have read before, you can advance the piss out of the m10 and get some decent gains. I'm a believer.

Hey what ever works for yeah. I have found out some more info on my intermittent miss in the lower rpm range. It does it harder and more frequent when my fuel level is less than half a tank. So I'm going to start looking there and see what I find.

Ok I finally got the problem solved on my intermittent miss. It's a vacuum leak, so all I need to do is locate it now.

So no issues with my car for the past month, and yesterday in the Jack'in'the'Box drivce-thru, she died on me. Cranked for about 10 seconds, nothing, tried again, nothing, tried again, slight stumble, then she groggily eased back to life with my heavy right foot. I could smell fuel heavily, so I'm thinking maybe a stuck injector or something? Any input?

Well for the fuel smell that could be simply caused by the fact you had to have floored to get it to start, that's probably all that is. For it dying out of the blue like that, I'm not sure. Have you checked to see how your air filter looks? Could also be caused buy a loose connection from one of the elec connectors. Plugs could also be starting to foul as well. Hope that helps. Let me know if anything changes

if you had issues with spark then the fuel wouldn't be burned as well.

I'd lean torward spark, but that's just me. I had more issues with spark on my m10 than anything else when I was running factory L-Jet.
