    Help! Swollen water Bypass hose

I have a problem, I recently changed the thermostat on my 318 and did a coolant flush. I have no overheating issues now but after driving, when i look at my coolant hoses i notice that both hoses that connect to the thermostat are swollen. The one going to the water pump (12) looks like a water balloon. The hoses in question are numbers 10 and 12, hoses number 11 and 13 seem normal.

I plan on replacing these two hoses.

If I open the radiator cap, the swelling immediately goes down, what is causing this problem, is it air in the system that still needs to be bled? It does not appear that I am loosing coolant, and I do not see oil/coolant on my oil dipstick.

    Thoughts?

How old are the hoses? Over time they become soft and need to be replaced as maintenance.

Also, you may have a headgasket/crack somewhere on the very extreme end of things. i had a hose swell up and explode but that was due to a cracked head leaking combustion gases into the cooling system.
