    Carb'd m10 vs fuel injected m10

I need the head rebuilt and most places only offer the carb'd m10 head parts(Korman, IE). Is there any difference between the two heads?

Im looking for a cam(OEM or after.), rocker arms and valve springs. Looking to do a mild build on top since its shot-out and this is my ride for the next few months:D.

Pretty sure there is no difference in the head itself, as the intake manifold is what was different (ports for fuel injectors)

I'm not sure if there is a difference for the BMW engines but I do know on the Toyota I use to own had a 22re in it. I was told that the 22r's had a different size of compression chambers in the head cus they were a carburetor engine. Meaning the head is most likely different between the fuel injected and non injected m10's. Fuel injection is so much better and more efficient any way, I would just stick with the fuel injection, imop. The other thing is be careful when rebuilding the top end like that. New or rebuilt top end + Old and worn out bottom end = Lots more stress and or premature failure of the bottom end.

Ya, just stick with efi, it's loads better. the only difference in heads is that you gotta watch what head you put on there so that it doesn't throw your comp. ratio outta whack and so that there is no contact between valves, head, and pistons. also the carbed head (e12 head i think) had an opening on the intake side for a cam driven fuel pump.
        Ich bin erstaunlich!

Can you not remove the pump, and block the hole?

Should be able to. They have block off plates for every other carbed engine for when you go to electric fuel pump, so I'm pretty sure they would for bmw as well. You'll have to hunt for one though, I looked a little and couldn't find one. Gl on the hunt

Just asking because I'm going EFI Turbo on my carb m10 and haven't looked into it yet. I'm sure I could just fabricate a blanking plate, if that is all that is required.

Yeah that would work to just make sure you buy the high temp gasket material though.
