    Cannon plug

There is something on the forward part of the motor that looks like a cannon plug, its right on top before the fan next to the coolant hose

Take a picture...that way we know which "cannon plug" you speak of. Most will assume that the "cannon plug" you speak of is the M10.

Seriously, take a damn picture. The only thing I can think of that would plug a cannon...is the m10 itself. But if you are looking at the front of the engine, and something looks strange, it's most likely the waterpump (which has a strange look), or the thermostat (which is suspended by 3 coolant hoses)

Diagnostic port maybe? I don't know much about the m10s but m20s have a cannon style plug for the diagnostic port near the front of the motor.

^ That's the thermostat, lol. I think he is talking about that diag port thingy.

Yes, I know it's the thermostat, LoL. The question was directed towards the OP. I don't know about you, but my diagnostic port isn't even a complete circle (has a flat side) and would never pass for a "cannon plug" I think this is a complete waste of time if the OP doesn't post a picture. OP, is it plastic...or metal? Lower hose or upper hose?

Lol, so true, it's the only roundish thing up front that I could see though.

Have you seen the diagnostic port on an m10? It's not even round. On a second note: I change my vote to the FPR. It's round, in that general area, and if I had a tiny cannon, I would use it to plug it for sure.

perhaps he speaks of the tensioner?

hey guys sorry for the delay I have been out on deployments (Coast Guard) I dont know for sure if its a Cannon plug (sorry Hey You for the head ache) I work on MTU's so im used to calling anything thats round and has prongs in it a cannon plug, I think it might be the diognostic port, it does have a flat spot on it, I just wasnt used to seeing open electrical components under a hood.

thanks for all the help and sorry once again for lack of pictures

Oh okay, yeah, that's the diagnostic port. The m10 didn't get the nice screw on cap/cover like the later 325's did. You use that port to reset your oil service and inspection light that is in the gauge cluster (unless your SI board is toast like mine, then its pointless to reset them)
