Low idle start, high idle run temp?

Ok I went out to my car this morning and the car started with a low idle. as i drove it aroud the idle got higher. What could cause this? Oh and it is on a '85 318i 1.8L.

Don't really describe much to seem like an issue.

How low of an idle to how high? Any struggle in acceleration?

mine does the same. When I start it up it idles around 800 and then eventually goes up to about 1100. I just figured it's part of the garbage idle system.

When i start it it runs at about 900 and after it's warmed up it is at around 1900 or 2000.

Oh and there is no problem with the drivabilty. The acceleration is just fine.
