1983 m10 ignition timing

I've been searching for how to adjust the ignition timing on my 1983 m10b18 k jetonic but I find several different specifications, which is correct ..?, and how I should do it?
or which is the best way to do it without specification...=S

How I do it is adjust it while the car is running. Turn the distributor clockwise until your idle starts to raise. Then back it off a tad counter-clockwise, set, and drive to see how you like it

my car run so bad and i don't know the failure exactly , for that i wan the specific numbers.

What are your symptoms? Timing hardly has issues if the vehicle ran before? What work has been done.
