Car started up fine yesterday, let it idle and warm up for a few minutes then engaged gear and got going - only to find the car backfired hard and died instantly.
I pulled cylidner #1 plug and have found that the car is not getting spark. When cranking fuel can be smelled in the exhaust.
I am getting 12V at the ignition coil (used test light) and swapped the coil to a known working one. No luck
I am not getting spark if I ground a plug from spark plug wires 1, 2 etc. but I DO HAVE SPARK if I ground a plug using the lead directly off the coil.
I am guessing my distributor is wack??
the car has a fat vacuum leak, going to do the ICV delete mod as well (and set idle using throttle body screw)
