M10 has developed a rod knock

My wifes daily M10 has developed knock, we are in a pinch and i was wondering if i can just replace the rods and mains?
if i can drop the pan and replace bearings and slap it back together and keep it on the road for a bit longer.

    is this possible?
i understand this isnt the most proper way but if i can keep it going until i can figure out a swap

I'm sure it is possible though without pulling the pan off and inspecting the clearances and condition of the bottom end there is no way to know. Honestly I feel like the amount of effort you would put into doing it that way would be most of the work towards doing it right.

Access down there is a pain unless you undo the motor mounts, jack up the motor and drop the steering rack out of the way. It's more involved than just pulling the pans. (there are two parts to the pan, upper and lower) When I just did the oil pan gaskets with the car on jack stands, with no instructions it took me about 6 hours having to struggle and figure it out the hard way.
