Accidentally cut shielded wiring

So I swapped an 84 e30 m10b18 into my e21. I accidentally cut the shielded wires from the ignition control module not realizing they were shielded. I have extended the harness with unshielded wires, but I have some issue with the power cutting out. What type of issues can this cause? Does anyone have personal experience with this?
