So I haven't had this car for too long. So I am not too familiar with it. Well it has a problem starting sometimes......esp when it rains. It will start then as soon as u give it gas it instantly dies after hiccuping and sputtering a bit. Other times the car will run flawlessly. When it first will start if the car isn't warmed up one of the belts squeals for a while till the car is at running temp, but only if it's under throttle, not at idle. When the car is "acting up" it will idle erratically and 95% of the time stalls. Most of the time I can't get it to run I have to use my other car.
Some people have suggested a few things like oxygen sensor, tps, coil pack, tired fuel pump, and or a vacuum leak. I don't really think it's a vacuum leak since the car does it sometimes and sometimes it doesn't act up at all. Recently I haven't been able to get the car to start at all. And a strange thing is I let the car sit for about 7 days, then went to go and start it, and the battery was completely dead. So I got a new battery, and the car was acting up like it always does, and would sort of hold an idle, and when it did hold idle if I gave it gas it would sputter and hiccup then die. So it's now 2 days later since I installed the new battery and I haven't tried to start it since than, and now the brand new battery is dead. This is soo frustrating. Could a battery drain somewhere be causing all this? If not what would drain the battery, or how can i find out? Any idea on what to test or how to test it? I don't wanna just buy things and hope it solves everything.
The guy I got the car from....a Certified BMW tech. said that he thinks that it is some sort of short under the intake manifold where there is a plug that has 3 wires that controls the fuel injection. He thinks that under the black cover under the t/b somehow they are shorting or the connection isn't good and I need to remove everything and run my own wires to the ecu for it. Does that make sense? Still I don't think that would explain the battery dieing in 2 days. I noticed that my power antenna stopped working, and when I pulled the carpet back to check it out, the darn thing was soo hot it burned the crap out my hand when i touched it....could that be a drain?
I am about to go buck nasty on this thing w/ a sledge hammer. I deff feel like I got f'ed in this deal I made w/ the guy. Esp since he didn't mention the issue till after we made our trade. Sorry this is so run on. I just wanted to explain everything the best i could the way it happens.
PLEASE HELP!!
