So my m10 is running oddly. Just replaced my ICV a few thousand miles ago. I also picked up a used fuel pump at the junkyard for the mean time when mine went bad. Anyways while running(happens randomly) I lose rpms and the car gets a jolting feeling under acceleration. The car picks up speed but it doesn't do it smoothly.

What should I check that could be causing this? I was just thinking that the fuel pump was going bad again since I never had this problem before I had to change it. So I guess I'll pick up another one and see if it fixes the problem.

when idling does it smell like fuel? if running really rich it could cause your rpms to drop. get a tester and make sure the fuel pressure is at 43.5psi (3bar) if its higher the injectors could be dumping more fuel. you could also have an injector stuck open...
you may have a clogged fuel filter. Jolt feeling? Like is it hesitating? if the filter is starving the engine of gasoline, you would experience bucking and crap accel/running.
this may all be fuel related...or you could have bad cap, rotor, wire, or even the spark plugs could be fouled?

when was the last time it was replaced? i would just replace it completely and chalk it up as normal maintenance. Its pretty cheap (like < $10)
if it is hesitating, you may have some ignition gremlins. just pop the top of the distributor (held on by two clamp thingies) and look at the contacts under the cap and at the end of rotor; if it lookes like its been melted or damaged in any way you may have to change it. again if it hasnt been done in a while it may just need a slight tune up. check spark plugs too.Last edited by SoopaGhetto; 12-20-2008, 12:47 PM.?

There is only one fuel filter, the m10 cars had them near the engine/firewall but the m20 cars had the filter near the fuel tank.
I would start with the basics, make sure all the ignition components are ok, check for any cracked hoses / leaks. A bad or going bad FPR will cause problems as well.Mtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205

ok well I have a few cracked hoses and I just discovered a leak coming from a heater hose. Car was overheating... Some hoses have already been changed (near the ICV area), but I didn't get all of them. I picked up a used inline FP and going to swap it and see if it solves the problem since my in-tank FP seems to be working fine.
