Which thermostat for the M10? Pics inside

Hello so I'm trying to replace the thermostat on my 85 318i and visited a bunch of stores around trying to find one.
Autozone and others seem not to have any in stock because they are odd-looking (seems like it's the housing type), while Napa was the only one that had it and I bought one there (conventional looking).

Well I did some online searching and found pics of both, but how can that be?

One that autozone and others didn't have in stock

One that I bought from Napa today

So which one could it be?

I bought mine with the entire housing, I really don't know how you would open the metal housing to put that thermostat piece in.

EDIT: Buy the one with the entire housing. that one should be the proper one.

Ya i had that problem too about 7 years ago. At that time everyone was trying to give me the second one I had to go to the dealer. Trust me there is no way to get that housing open without destroying it
