Rattling M20 (Probably a stupid question)

Right so probably a stupid question i feel like i already know but. The M20 has a rattle in it, sounds like the adjusters in the rocker arms but you can't hear it when the car is at an idle and the higher in the rev range you go the quieter it gets. Also if i give it a kick in the guts you cant hear it at all and the rattle only come in once the engine has warmed up to operating temp.

I have gone through the head and adjusted and readjusted the rocker arms but the noise is still there. So am i just missing one or is there some other possible cause?

My dear if it's a manual then press the cluch and see if the rattling stopped mine drived my crazy till i discovered that my 240 is the cause of the noise. Most of the M20 rattle happens when cold.

Check alternator,ps,water pump and ac mounting for loose bolts.
Also how are engine and trans mounts?
