i know it isn't much help, but I'd tighten them to about 60 ft pounds on the E14's and about 25 on the E10's
i always just snug them up real good. you don't want to overtighten them because you might need to pull it back out again at somepoint while it is in the car, and if the top two are too tight, it's a bitch.

It means buy the Bentley manual as it has the information you are seeking (and more).
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Don't let it bother you. It's just some people's way of saying "I don't know what the answer is, but the Bentley has that information for you". If you are going to own one of these cars, then the Bentley really is your friend.

BTW, they are Torx bolts not torque bolts. Torque is what you apply to a torx bolt :D

              Take a look at www.realoem.com.

              http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...91&hg=23&fg=10

They are both M12 bolts but they are different lengths. You'll want 4 of the longer ones for an engine stand. My local auto parts store had what was necessary. You're just looking for the right thread size and a close enough length.

Remember, for M bolts, it is referring to the shank size, not the head of the bolt size. So an M12 bolt does not take a 12mm socket. It's generally more like a 17mm? or there abouts.

No worries, glad to help. You get a bit jaded after being on the boards for a while. You see the same questions over and over again so you start to get a bit exasperated. People have to remember that:

                  1) This is just people helping people and you can't get snippy if you don't get an answer right away. It sometimes takes a while for the right person to see things.
                  2) You will get crap answers and a whole lot of arrogant and rude remarks. Don't let it bother you and use your common sense. You'll be fine.

Josh, not sure if you saw my thread yet, but the m12 1.75 worked to get the engine on my stand. Should be the same for you just make sure the bolts are long enough.
