    Faulty O2 sensor??

Hey guys, would a faulty O2 sensor cause the motor to die/pause/jerk and flash the CEL? It only does it when the motor is warm and around 2k rpms. So far I've replaced the AFM. I have a good O2 sensor that i've yet to install. But does O2 sensors really affect the car that much??? The problem's getting so annoying now... Please help.

no, it shouldn't effect it that much

If it's throwing a code, read it. There's no use guessing when the car's diagnostics are telling you what needs to be fixed.

That said, I'm guessing it might be a temp sensor issue...

See, the CEL is not on. It only flickers on and off as the car jerks around 2k rpms. But after that it's fine....

I've pulled a code once a long time ago when the CEL stayed on. It flashed twice and i think that means the O2 sensor right??

The temp sensor, which one is it on the thermo housing?? I see two on there...

yeah the 02 sensor wouldn't do that. if the MIL only comes on at those certain times then you probably can't pull the codes because like you said it only flashes/comes on when when the car acts up, so its an intermittent problem. i worked on a car that did this once and it turned out to be a bad crank sensor. maybe something to look at if you havent already. I would agree that this doesn't sound like it is caused by the O2 sensor.

You need to have the codes read out of the DME. If the CEL has been on, there should be stored codes in the DME if unswitched power to the DME has been present since the flash of the CEL. Since this car is an 87 and presumably has the 153 DME, you need to pull the codes with a diag system.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
