Do oem sachs clutch kits come with alignment tool?
I bought a sachs kit and it did not have an alignment tool. I bought one separately. I ended up not doing that particular install b/c the major oil leak that appeared to be coming from the rear main seal actually was coming from a missing piece of the pan gasket right under the main seal (lol, good thing I discovered that before removing the trans!).
I would not attempt a clutch job without the alignment tool. It's hard enough when you know for a fact that everything is aligned.

Yes I still have the tool. Having three BMWs though, chances are really good that I'm going to need it sooner or later!
The tool is not hugely expensive -- it's just a piece of plastic.

It's only like $8 on Pelican parts. I did use some sockets and other bits to simulate an alignment tool. It worked. It took more time and was more of a pain than it should have been though. Get the tool. It's worth it.

Worked for me too. It wasn't a pain for me though, it worked the first time. I used some black tape to make up the difference in sizes between the sockets and splines.
Some do some don't ... I don't know why, I go though probably 20 to 30 clutch kits a year at the shop and it seems like a 50/50 chance that a plastic pilot shaft is in the box.
I'm Not Right in the Head | Random Rants and other Nonsense1st Order Logic Failure: Association fallacy, this type of fallacy can be expressed as (∃x ∈ S : φ(x)) → (∀x ∈ S : φ(x)), meaning "if there exists any x in the set S so that a property φ is true for x, then for all x in S the property φ must be true".
and here I thought me and Andy were the only ones...
lol, nope, I am a cheap bastard sometimes... although it is usually because I forget to get things and Eugene is at least a two hour round trip. So, I do without.
It worked for me, but I will probably spend yet another hour trying to find the right sockets, etc, the next time. So, I ordered one with my new pressure plate.
BTW, I still have some parts up here you might be interested in. Those Eibach springs are still sitting there.
So my memory of an 8mm deep socket and a screwdriver is wrong?
Why is it that 95% of the shit I remember never happened?
Your memory is correct, remember we used some sockets, an extension. We cut the pilot bearing part of the tool off because it was too bug. The female end of a 1/4 drive extension fit perfect. Used sockets to keep it centered.
