Do SpecE30 racers break a lot of rocker arms?

I'm considering a 325i for a track car, but don't want to get into replacing rocker arms all the time. I'd rather get an M42 car instead if that's going to happen.

Just use good new rockers when you put the engine together and don't rev the holy piss out of it and they'll be fine.

I was thinking that they would break by virtue of the fact that they're being revved hard all the time --- driven hard around the track, constantly between like 4k and 7k RPM --- lots of RPM all day long.

Are they just prone to breaking nowadays because most M20's have high-mileage?

Pretty much, (unlike steel) aluminum only lasts so long under stress.

And I would also venture a guess that a lot of knuckleheads are over torquing the adjuster nuts and are pre fucking them so they fail.
