    check the crankshaft sensor man

or check the magnetic reluctor on the flywheel
    good luck let me know

I've tried 3 different crankshaft sensors, I verified that the magnet is still in place on the flywheel.

Farrington: I get power from the battery dist box (30), but I don't get power from the OBC relay (86). I'm about to go outside and try to bypass the OBC relay. I don't know what else to do... Can you please give me the part # for the main relay? I can't figure out exactly which one to order if that's the case...

OK I charged up the battery to 100%, I was able to bypass the OBC relay box and I got power at both terminals at the main relay and also at the ECU. STILL NO SPARK!!! frustrating :(

I'm getting 12.8v at the coil and also at the end of the coil->distributor cable. I'm now getting power to the ECU (I have the two green wires going into the OBC relay box jumped together to get the power to the ECU). I've tried 2 different ECUs, I have a total of 4 crankshaft position sensors that I've swapped out and switched around. I've tried 3 different main relays and even put in a new wire harness. Why can't I get spark? :(

e: would it matter that the new wiring harness is from an 87 325e?

You shouldn't be getting 12v on the secondary of the coil, the whole point of the coil is to step up the voltage from 12v in the primary winding to like 2000v in the secondary winding which is connected to the distributor rotor 12v is not enough to jump the spark gap on a spark plug. If something was connected wrong you may have fried two coils in a row it is possible.

in my case i wasn't getting any power past the coil. I'll still post pics when i get home (i get the main relay delivered today) so i'll wire it up and show you but sadly i don't think this is your problem. :( if there is power at the end of the coil distributor wire then i think the coil is blown. I think it'll be the wiring harness bc for the life of me i can't figure this out. still try my main relay method and if that doesn't work sorry m8.

I have a similar problem: No power at the coil when the iqition is on.

I connect 12v from the positive lead to the coil, and the car starts.
Now I need to find out why the coil isn't getting power when the iqnition is on.
