    valve cover plug vs cam sprocket

    I pulled my valve cover to paint it and also try to stop my oil leak for the 3rd time. I noticed that the rubber plug in the valve gallery is rubbing on the cam sprocket. Does this indicate that I put the cam sprocket on wrong, that I installed the rubber plug backward or what? This gives me hope that I can fix my stupidity and actually get the valve cover to seal.

    its installed backwards, the "fat" end sits inboard of the head

      LOL, simple fix, turn the plugs around.

        Thanks! That picture gave me a good laugh. I needed one right then too.
        The current fleet:
        1992 325ic: 148k-171k miles
        1999 Chevrolet Tahoe LT 4WD, 114k-142k miles

            Yeah. I've resorted to using a digital camera at times to make sure I don't screw stuff up when I put it back together!
            The current fleet:
