    vr2jetta, thanks! You're the best!

I'm going to try to replace that hose this upcoming Saturday and report accordingly. :)

Checked out that hose (elephant trunk) and looks fine.

Still can't figure out the problem.

Did you plug one end and blow in the other? Mine looked 'OK' but was still bad. Other than that I dont know what to tell you. Sorry. Just check all the vacuum lines and make sure they are all good. Did you check the coolant temp sensor? Its the blue one on the thermostat housing.

The blue one was too hard to get at. We just left it alone but it appears to function rather properly. My only suspect now is the charcoal canister being faulty.

Yea, the blue one is a total bitch to get out. Did you test the parameters with a meter?

                Bump.

My DME is pulling Code 1223 but the Coolant Temp Sensor was replaced.

Have you checked that big plug under the intake for the coolant sensor and injectors? That thing got awfully coroded on me. Well maybe not BIG plug, but about an inch round plug.

Yes. I was thinking it's the infamous C191 connectors. I'll have to look at that next. *Sigh*
